Radio stations can't be paused, so if you need to step away for a few minutes, you will miss an interesting discussion or your favorite song. If you want to listen to a radio show at a later date, you can use MP3 Transformer to record the broadcast and save it as an audio file. The procedure is straightforward and it takes only a few moments to start recording.

The application's setup file should not be a challenge for any modern day Internet connection. The file is roughly 14 MB and the installation process is fast. MP3 Transformer is compatible with various Windows platforms, including the recently launched Windows 8.

MP3 Transformer's functions are grouped in separate sections, on a compact interface. If you want to start recording a broadcast, you just need to select the radio station and click different buttons to play and record. The recording is saved in MP3 format, on a default path, which can be changed in the general settings section. The Recording time is displayed in real time, next to the Play and Record options. You can set the application to record the entire stream, until you stop it manually or you can set it to record for a certain amount of time.

Due to its simplicity and its well organized interface, you can use the software as your default radio player as well. It comes with its own radio streams library. The included stations are organized in numerous categories, according to their genres. Genres and stations can be selected in separate drop menus and you can mark them as favorites. You can also add your own stations to the list, in a category of your choice. Furthermore, the interface can be minimized to the system tray, so it will not get in your way, while streaming your favorite stations.

Pros

It takes only a few clicks to record a radio stream. The recording is saved as an MP3 file, in a location of your choice. The software can record for a limited time period or you can set it to record indefinitely. You can add your own radio streams and manage the existing ones, without any effort.

Cons

The free version can be used for a maximum of five times. MP3 Transformer's recording capabilities and well organized functions make it an excellent choice, if you are looking for a default radio player.
